Burlap Christmas Tree – Materials Needed

For November Craft Class

You can buy EVERYTHING listed here at Wal-Mart!

• Buy 1 1/2 yard of burlap fabric.
  • We are buying extra burlap fabric incase you mess up or decide to make something else. Make sure that you buy 1 and 1/2 yard of burlap fabric. You can buy any color burlap (green, brown or whatever color you want).
• Poly-Fil (It’s around $3 for a bag) 
  • You will stuff your Christmas tree with the poly-fil.
• Reynolds freezer paper plastic coated (75 feet) It MUST be LARGE. Do not buy the small freezer paper because it will not make a tree.
  • You can find the freezer paper at ANY grocery store or Wal-Mart in the grocery section next to Ziploc bags
• Small paint brush or re-use the foam brush from last month’s craft class
• Purchase burlap WIRED ribbon or PURCHASE a pre-made bow for the top of your tree. If you purchase a bow, then make sure that it’s light-weight and not heavy.
  • If you buy the burlap wired ribbon, then I will teach you how to make a bow for the top of your tree. Click Here to see the different types of bows that I will teach you how to make during class.
• Natural looking TWINE or a white wired hanger.
  • We will use the twine or white wired hanger to hang your tree on your door.
  • I will have about 10 wired hangers for you all to use, but not enough for everyone.
  • I personally like the “look” of hanging the tree with twine over using a hanger, but it’s up to you.
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks to use with your glue gun.
  • Make sure that your glue sticks match the size of your glue gun
• Fabric scissors or rotary cutter   If you don’t have one, then don’t buy one because someone else will have one that you can borrow. Just bring it if you have it 🙂
• 1 Marker any color  If you don’t have one, then don’t buy one because someone else will have one that you can borrow. Just bring it if you have it 🙂
• Ruler :  1 wooden ruler (big) OR measuring tape that you would use with fabric (see example below). If you don’t have one, then don’t buy one because someone else will have one that you can borrow. Just bring it if you have it 🙂
• Scotch tape  If you don’t have one, then don’t buy one because someone else will have one that you can borrow. Just bring it if you have it 🙂

Optional Items To Purchase:

• Paint! This is optional if you want to paint your tree white, red or green or any other color acrylic paint (You can paint dots or your initial on the tree)
• Floral wire
• Raffia to decorate on your tree
• Jingle bells to decorate your tree
• Pre-made burlap bow
