Spiritual Gifts

I truly believe that God gave me the gift of encouragement / exhortation. It’s neat to see how God can use my gift with something that I love as well – Decorating! I love to encourage others when they come over to my home through a peaceful and seasonally decorated home. I truly believe that someone can be uplifted and encouraged not only through someone else’s words, but also the environment around them (your home).

You see, Christians with the gift of encouragement/exhortation have an unusual sensitivity for and are attracted to those who are discouraged or struggling as I do. I always thought that it was strange that most of my friends always had problems. I never really understood why I was drawn to troubled people, but I understand why now. God gave me an innate love for them.

My prayer is that anyone who steps into my home would feel God’s presence or when reading my blog. I think that God can use my gift in many other ways as well, but this is one way that he’s allowing me to touch others literally around the world through my decorating blog. Yes, around the world!

Add little birds to your table

It’s been a tough journey – I know that not all of my friends see it that way. In fact, many of my Christian friends don’t support my MommyDecorates.com blog in any way. Yes, it’s very hurtful, but I know the real reasons behind everything that I do with my blog. I think it’s neat how God can use someone like me for His glory doing something out of the ordinary.

You see, writing a decorating blog is not a normal way of touching others through encouragement that most are used too. I think many people are afraid of stepping out of the norm and trying something new to reach the lost and troubled people, but you see – I’m not afraid!! I was truly born as a leader and born to be bold. I’ve always been that way and I intend to never change 🙂

I’m not doing this blog for a show, but for my God that I love and serve! I pray and hope that everything I do will bring Him glory. I’m not perfect by any means, but I’m so thankful for a God who has mercy and loves me unconditionally. I’m so thankful for a God who gave me such a wonderful gift of encouragement and it is my prayer that you are encouraged through my blog entries.

A little more about  Spiritual Gifts – It says in Romans 12:6-8 that – We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
